Sofiana Bird is an Associate at lecocqassociate’s Dubai office. Sofiana obtained her Juris Doctor with Honors from the University of Puerto Rico School of Law in 2014 and was admitted to practice law in New York State in 2015.
Prior to joining lecocqassociate DIFC Ltd, she worked as a legal consultant at Moaza Alkhadar Advocates and Legal Consultancy in Dubai where she handled various corporate and commercial matters covering local laws as well as drafting various corporate agreements. She also assisted in arbitration and litigation disputes before the DIAC and DIFC-LCIA as well as the DIFC Court of First Instance from inception to trial. Sofiana also worked as a contract law clerk for the United States Securities and Exchange Commission’s Enforcement Division in Fort Worth, Texas where she assisted in their investigations. Additionally, she competed in the Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition in Washington, D.C. in 2014. Sofiana is a member of the New York State Bar Association.
At lecocqassociate, Sofiana handles the structuring and incorporation of financial and non-financial institutions aiming to establish their presence in the Dubai International Financial Centre.
