What are your areas of specialty?
I specialise in advising on the structuring and set ups of regulated entities as well as investment fund structures in the DIFC and ADGM. Alongside financial regulation, advising on corporate and commercial matters and joint ventures are also my key specialities.
What kind of matters do you enjoy the most?
Advising on the set up and post licensing obligations of regulated entities and investment funds!
What is the most impactful work you have done throughout your career?
Structuring a private bank and an investment fund for very well-known financial players.
Tell us about your academic and professional background.
I obtained my Bachelors of Law from the University of London in 2011, followed by a Post Graduate Diploma in Mutual Fund Management from Fitz William Group, London. I joined lecocqassociate in 2011 and was appointed as partner in 2015.
I am a member of the Sindh Bar Council as well as the International Bar Association and the American Bar Association.
How many languages do you speak?
I speak English and Urdu fluently, and since 2011 still working on my French skills!
What made you want to be a solicitor / lawyer?
Boston Legal?.. Kidding ;) I have always been the ‘go-to’ person for solving problems and by nature I possess an inquisitive personality trait. These were the two major factors that pushed me into the profession as it allows me to solve problems and also feed my inquisitive side by way of delving into details of each matter being worked on.
Business aside, what do you enjoy doing when you are not in the office?
Outside of work hours, you can find me either at the gym working on my calisthenics skills or in the boxing ring throwing a couple of mean punches!
What is your secret talent?
Well, what can I say there?…...Never mess with a woman who hangs upside down just for fun!....Let’s leave it here ;)
